Taking a Caring Break
Taking care of an older person who has medical and/or mental health issues is emotionally and physically draining. No-one needs to feel guilty or embarrassed about the need for an occasional break in the regime – generally we here at Moormead Nursing Home find that it benefits both the carer and the cared for.
Our qualified nurses and dedicated, fully trained support staff have been offering respite care to an award-winning standard since 1999 at our comfortable nursing home in Wroughton, Wiltshire.
However long or short the period of respite care is required for, we aim to make the experience a happy holiday for both the carer and his or her elderly charge.
We specialise in caring for those with regular medical needs, whether it be procedures or medication, provided along with personal and social care with kindness, compassion and empathy.
Moormead’s respite bespoke care plans offer hospital-quality nursing care in homely surroundings. Those who stay with us have their own private rooms, which can be personalised, and benefit from care and support day and night provided by our dedicated, vigilant team.
As a carer you can have every confidence that your loved one will be safe and happy in our hands. Visiting is possible at any time if you want to set your mind at rest.
We take full cognisance of any special requests and value the regular carer’s input on any factors that will make their loved one’s stay with us more pleasant and comfortable.
One important benefit of respite care for the patient is that he or she can join in with enjoyable social activities if appropriate for his/her condition. We’ve had many firm friendships forged within our walls!
Carers can rest assured that you will be contacted immediately if any emergency or urgent situation arises while your relative or friend is in our care.
It’s a widely accepted fact that respite care has benefits for both carers and those needing care.
As a carer it allows you to recharge your batteries, taking a break from the often overwhelming responsibility of caring to put things in perspective and see to your own affairs. A bit of “me” time – looking after your own health and well-being – is vital for everyone.
You may want to go away on holiday with the family, or be confident that the person you care for is being well nursed after they have had a bout of illness or undergoing an operation. Perhaps you want to trial a stay in a nursing home before committing to permanent care?
Whatever the reason for seeking our professional respite care, you can be assured that when choosing Moormead the person being cared for will enjoy the experience – a welcome change of scenery which is a tonic as good as a holiday.
